Softball Taken Down by UMass Lowell in Extras
3/10/2026 6:32:00 PM | Softball
GW softball dropped its Tuesday afternoon matchup vs. UMass Lowell, 3-2 in eight innings. The loss dropped the Revolutionaries to 11-7 overall.Â
A pitchers' duel broke out at the GW Softball Field as both GW's Sophia Torreso and UML's Giana LaCedra brought their A-games into the circle. Torreso allowed only one hit in 5.0 IP, while LaCedra gave up four hits in 6.1 IP, and both gave way to relievers with 0s on the board.Â
Still scoreless into extras, the international tie breaker rule went into effect, placing a runner on second to begin each half inning. UMass Lowell broke the ice first in the top of the eighth, scoring three times, in part due to a GW error. The Revolutionaries were able to make up some ground in the last of the eighth as Daniella Lew cracked her second career home run to cut the deficit to one, but GW couldn't complete the extra-innings heroics and fell, 3-2.Â
The Revolutionaries return to the GW Softball Field tomorrow for Kids Day, as GW welcomes Georgetown for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch on ESPN+.Â
