Softball Drops to App State on Day Two of UNCW Tournament

Wilmington, N.C. - The Revolutionaries and the App State Mountaineers were scoreless for the first three innings of play, but GW was unable to get on the board all day in Saturday's contest, and ultimately fell, 11-0, in five innings.
GW's Reese Ferrel and Katie Hendrickson combined on GW's three hits, but App State's four runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth were the difference.
In the circle, Cece Smith made the start for the Buff & Blue, recording three strikeouts. Sophia Torreso and Chole Green also appeared for GW in relief.
GW now looks ahead to tomorrow morning's rematch with Kennesaw State which will conclude the opening weekend's action. First pitch in Wilmington is scheduled for 10 a.m., and fans are encouraged to check GWsports.com for the latest updates and to follow GW_Softball on X.
