Tennis Dominates Coppin State, Moves to 2-0

WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team picked up its second win in as many matches this season with a dominant 7-0 win over Coppin State on Thursday. GW moves to 2-0 to start the season for the second-consecutive year.
The Buff & Blue started the match strong, securing the doubles point with wins in the first and second flights, blanking the Eagles in both matches. Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco cruised to a 6-0 win, the duo's second victory of the season, while Solange Skeene and Viktoria Sasinka picked up their first win of the year in the second flight.
Skeene took care of business in first singles for GW, picking up a 6-4, 6-3 win, moving her to 2-0 in 2026. Sasinka followed suit in the second flight, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Lee tallied a 6-0, 6-1 win in third singles. Alexandra Lindqvist earned a fourth singles win, blanking Coppin State 6-0, 6-0, while Laziza Talipova won in fifth singles, 6-3, 6-4. The victories were milestones for Lindqvist and Talipova, marking their first career collegiate singles wins. Katya Balin rounded out the match, picking up a forfeit victory in the sixth flight.
It's a quick turnaround for GW, who look to go 3-0 on the year, hosting Liberty tomorrow at SETLC. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Southeast DC.
