LILBURN, Ga. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association has announced that George Washington Assistant Coach Brianna Finch was selected as a participant in the 2026 Next Generation Institute.
Finch, who joined GW prior to the 2025-26 season as part of Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan's staff, is one of 34 assistants across the country who were picked to participate in this year's event. Originally formed in 2023, the Next Generation Institute is a high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become collegiate head coaches during their careers. Finch joins Richmond assistant Brittany Pinkney as the only two representatives from Atlantic 10 institutions.
"The WBCA is pleased to announce the participants for the 2026 WBCA Next Generation Institute," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "This fourth class of cohorts will be challenged to set aside X's and O's for two days during the upcoming WBCA Convention in Phoenix and concentrate on understanding and developing the skills in business, communications, marketing and management of both people and resources that are required to be a successful head coach in this new landscape of college athletics."
With the college basketball landscape in a constant state of change, the curriculum for the event molds with the trends of the industry to allow participants to be well-equipped for what to expect as head coaches. The 2026 institute focuses on the CEO attributes needed to lead a program and how to be successful in the enterprise of collegiate athletics.
To be eligible for consideration, participants must be a current member of the WBCA, have a minimum of five years of coaching experience, have attended the WBCA convention in the past and have been nominated by another current member of the WBCA.
The 2026 institute will be held in conjunction with this year's WBCA Convention, hosted in Phoenix from April 2-5.
Finch and the Revolutionaries return to action on Saturday at Davidson as the team enters the latter part of the regular season. Follow the game live on ESPN+ at 1:00 p.m.
