ORLANDO – GW softball split Saturday's two contests at the Charge on Classic in Orlando. The Revolutionaries opened the day with a 13-0 five-inning win against Wagner, before hanging with a quality UCF team for seven innings in a 5-1 defeat. GW moved to 8-5 with one game remaining this weekend in Florida.
GW had its way on offense vs. Wagner in game one as the Revolutionaries picked up their sixth-straight win. Up 2-0 in the fourth, GW dropped the hammer as the Revolutionaries batted through the order while only accruing one out, eventually sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring eight runs by the end of the frame. GW collected eight hits, including four doubles, in their most explosive inning of the season.
Leading 10-0 in the fifth, GW tacked on three runs on Corpuz's second home run in as many games.
In her first start of the season, Emma Fales pitched a complete game and allowed zero runs on eight hits. Fales struck out four without issuing a free base, leading to her second win of 2026.
GW set season-highs in hits (15), extra-base hits (8) and runs scored (13) vs. Wagner. GW was aggressive at the plate without a walk, but with six Revolutionaries gathering multiple hits in game one.
The Revolutionaries looked the part in the nightcap, playing toe-to-toe with a UCF team just outside the top 25 in most major polls. While the Revolutionaries never led, they were consistently getting runners aboard and stayed within striking distance the entire game.
Corpuz and Gilliland each showed their veteran approach against the Knights as Corpuz was 1-1 with three walks and Gilliland was 2-3 with a walk and GW's only RBI, coming on a single in the seventh.
UCF scored one in the first but the lead stayed at 1-0 until the fifth, when the home Knights added three more. Gilliland's RBI single came in the seventh, as GW went down swinging with three hits in the last inning.
GW is back at the UCF Softball Complex for one final game, tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. vs. Florida A&M on ESPN+.
