WASHINGTON – The non-conference baseball slate rolls on with GW traveling to Virginia for a showdown with the Cavaliers on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The Buff & Blue then return home this weekend to host Saint Peter's for a three-game set at Tucker Field. Friday's series opener is slated for 2:30 p.m., with the series extending into Saturday (1:30 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.).
Virginia enters the week 6-1, with the Cavs' lone loss coming against Stetson, a 6-5 defeat on Saturday. UVA opened the season with a three-game sweep over Wagner, outscoring the Seahawks by a combined score of 69-25. The series included a program record 31 runs in game two of a Saturday doubleheader, breaking the previous benchmark of 29 set in 2007 against Niagara.
UVA's offense is led by Sam Harris, who's tallied 12 hits and 11 RBI thus far. Harris has 21 total bases and five extra-base hits, including two home runs. Harrison Didawick leads the club with 13 total hits, including nine RBI and a double. Virginia's 2026 stats can be found here.
Saint Peter's makes its second trip to the DMV this season after dropping a four-game series to Georgetown last weekend. The Peacocks are 0-4 thus far, having started the season a weekend later than the national landscape. Saint Peter's is led by Head Coach TJ Ward, who is in his first season with the program. Ward spent the previous four years at the University of Hartford, leading the program to record-setting numbers on offense.
Saint Peter's offense is led by Alex Manent, who tallied a .375 average at the plate during the team's opening weekend. Manent recorded three hits in eight at-bats, tallying one solo home run and six total bases. Aidan Forrest finished 2-6 from the plate against the Hoyas, the only other player above a batting average of .200 through the first four games. Saint Peter's 2026 season stats can be found here.
