Tennis Tops Loyola, Snaps Three-Game Slide

WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team got back in the win column on Friday, defeating Loyola (Md.), 5-2, at SETLC. The Revolutionaries move to 3-3 on the season, ahead of the team's first A-10 match next Tuesday against VCU.
GW got the match started by securing the doubles point, picking up wins in the first and second flights. The pair of Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco claimed a 6-1 victory in first doubles, moving the pairing to 4-2 on the season. Solange Skeene and Victoria Sasinka sealed the deal in second doubles, notching a 6-2 win to move the duo to 3-3 this year.
Skeene stayed perfect on the day, earning a 6-1, 6-2 win in first singles. Skeene is now 4-2 this season, with all matches played in the No. 1 spot. Sasinka picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win in the third flight, while Verduzco nailed down a 6-4, 6-3 victory in number five singles. Sasinka improves to 3-3 this season, while Verduzco moves to 2-3. Devika Manu rounded out GW's win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in sixth singles, giving the first-year a 3-2 record in 2026. While the match didn't count towards the team score, Laziza Talipova earned a 7-5 win in an exhibition singles match, her second win of the season.
GW now turns its attention to reigning A-10 Champions VCU, as the Buff & Blue travel to Richmond on Tuesday for an 11:00 a.m. match.
