Baseball Welcomes Lehigh for Home-Opening Weekend

WASHINGTON – After opening the 2026 season at Western Carolina last weekend, the George Washington baseball team returns to Tucker Field for the team's home-opening series starting this Friday. The Buff & Blue welcome Lehigh for a three-game set, starting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and extending to Saturday (1:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.).
Despite going winless during the opening weekend, GW saw solid production from numerous players, particularly on offense. Tyler Jones led GW with a .455 batting average in 11 at-bats, finishing with five hits. He drove in two RBI, notched two doubles and hit a home run in the team's season opener. Robbie Lavey went .417 from the dish, driving in three runs, tallying three doubles and blasting a homer.
On the mound, Declan Wywoda was solid in his first start of the season, tossing six innings in game three vs. the Catamounts, allowing two earned runs and striking out six in the no-decision. Gavin Miller pitched three innings in relief as well, allowing just one hit and recording three strikeouts.
Lehigh is coming off a 0-3 weekend at 22nd-ranked Miami, being outscored by a combined 57-16 across the series. Raffaele Rogers led the Lehigh offense with five total hits, driving in four runs and hitting two home runs. Aidan Quinn notched four hits, driving in three RBI and scoring one run.
