WASHINGTON – Following a split in two matches last weekend, the George Washington tennis team returns to action with three matches scheduled over the next seven days. The Buff & Blue host Morgan State on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., rescheduled from an earlier postponement this season due to inclement weather. The Revolutionaries will then travel south to Elon, facing the host Phoenix on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. and Longwood on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
GW now sits at 2-1 on the young season, picking up a 7-0 win over Coppin State last Friday before suffering the team's first loss to Liberty on Saturday. Madison Lee, Victoria Sasinka and Solange Skeene all lead GW statistically in singles, holding two wins apiece on the year. The pair of Lee and Verduzco also leads GW's doubles teams as the only duo to hold two wins on the season. GW's full 2026 stats can be found here.
Morgan State enters the week 0-3 with losses to West Virginia, Navy and VCU. The Bears have tallied just one singles win this season, with Michaela Stephens picking up a 6-3, 5-7, 10-3 win over Navy in the first flight.
Elon holds a 1-1 record on the year after having four matches this season cancelled due to inclement weather. The Phoenix fell to Charlotte, 7-0, in the team's season opener, then beat NC Wesleyan, 7-0, for their first win of 2026. Elon is coming off a 2024-25 campaign that saw them win the CAA Tournament Championship, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Longwood also sports a 1-1 record, losing to VCU in its season-opener but picking up a 6-1 win over Christopher Newport last Saturday. The Lancers have also been heavily affected by weather, seeing four matches either postponed or cancelled thus far.
Live stats will be available for Sunday's match. Fans can follow GWsports.com for complete results of Wednesday and Monday's contests.
