BENCH BOSSES
Tyrone Marshall Jr.'s 15 points on Tuesday at Saint Louis marked the 11th time in 21 games, and second-straight time, this season that GW's leading scorer has come off the bench.
GW's bench has scored 30 or more points in 12 games this season, including a trio of 50+ performances against American (54), McNeese (53) and Tuesday vs. Dayton (51). The Revolutionaries are 22nd nationally (5th A-10) with 32.8 bench points per game and 32 of the 86 double-digit performances (37%) have come from reserves.
DEFENSE ROUNDING INTO FORM
Tuesday at Saint Louis marked the third straight game where GW has held its opponent significantly below their season scoring average. The Billikens' high-flying offense (91.5 ppg) was limited to 79 points, just their sixth game with less than 80 this year. Over the last three games, GW is holding its opponents to 11.2 ppg less than their season average entering the game.
GW ranks fifth in the A-10 during league games in defensive efficiency (106.1) and has forced turnovers at the fourth-best rate in the league (17.7%). The Buff & Blue, who led the league with 8.9 steals per game last year, are up to third now this year with 7.9 swipes per contest.
A LOOK AT THE RAMS
Fordham is in its first year under new head coach Mike Magpayo, who made his way to the Bronx after five years at UC Riverside. The Rams are 11-10 on the year and 2-6 in league play, but have seen seven of their eight league games decided by single digits.
Iona transfer Dejour Reaves leads the A-10 with 17.4 ppg, having made the second-most shots (139) on the most field goal attempts (296) in the league. Christian Henry (11.3 ppg) is second in the A-10 with 5.3 assists per game and Rikus Schulte (10.8 ppg) is second in the circuit with 9.6 rebounds per game to round out Fordham's big three.
The Rams pride themselves on defense, leading the A-10 and ranking 17th nationally by allowing just 65.0 ppg. Fordham is also second in rebound margin (+9.2) and leads the league in offensive rebounds (13.3 per game).
