Tennis Captures First Win of 2026

WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary's on Friday afternoon, 6-1, securing the team's first win of the 2026 season. The victory also marked the first win under first-year Head Coach Jackie Calla, who took over the program in August.
The Revolutionaries got the day started on a high note, securing the doubles point with wins in the first and third flights. Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco teamed up for a 6-2 win in first doubles, while the first-year pair of Devika Manu and Alexandra Lindqvist secured a 6-1 victory in the third flight, their first career win in a collegiate match.
GW kept the momentum rolling in singles play, winning five of six matches. Solange Skeene earned her first victory of the year, securing a 6-2, 6-4 win in the first flight, while Sasinka took care of business with a 6-1, 6-4 trouncing in second singles. Lee logged a 6-4, 6-0 win in third singles, and Verduzco finished off a solid day with a 6-4, 7-5 dub in the fourth flight. Manu rounded out GW's efforts with a hard-fought 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 win in sixth singles.
GW returns to action next Friday, welcoming Morgan State to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center for an 11:00 a.m. match in the Nation's Capital.
