WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team enters the Jackie Calla era on Friday, opening the 2026 season at the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center (SETLC) against Mount St. Mary's. Match time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
GW enters the new season with a roster of nine, headlined by 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team selection Viktoria Sasinka, who returns for her junior season with the Buff & Blue. Sasinka finished with three wins in first singles a season ago, while also pairing up with teammate Madison Lee for eight doubles wins in 2025.
Solange Skeene also returns for her junior season after a sophomore campaign that saw her tally a team-best 9-6 record in singles action last year. Skeene notched eight of her wins in fifth singles, while one came in the number four spot.
Lee, Vaida Matuseviciute, Karen Verduzco and Katya Balin round out GW's class of six returners for 2026. Laziza Talipova, Devika Manu and Alexandra Lindqvist make up GW's first-year class, which looks to make an immediate impact for the Buff & Blue.
GW defeated the Mount, 4-0, a season ago, as part of a 4-1 start to the regular season, the program's best start since 2011. Following Friday's match, GW will be off a week before hosting Morgan State on Jan. 30 at SETLC.
