Gymnastics Takes Third at Home-Opening Invitational

WASHINGTON - In front of the home-opening crowd in the Smith Center, GW gymnastics took third with a 191.375 amongst the field of Penn (194.075), West Chester (191.600) and Cornell (191.325). Individually, senior Deana Sheremeta once again notched the first-place spot in both the beam and all-around competitions, tying her career-best on the beam with a 9.900 and earning a 38.850 in the all-around. On floor, junior Maya Peters set a personal-best 9.800 on the event to also finish tied for first on the event. GW also saw the return of Brooke Izzo to the beam lineup, who finished the afternoon with a 9.725 on the event.Â
