Lacrosse Announces First-Year Class

WASHINGTON- In preparation for the 2026 season, Head Coach Colleen McCaffrey is pleased to announce GW lacrosse's incoming class. The group of newcomers consists of 11 first-years. Â
"This year's incoming class adds depth and variety to the Buff & Blue roster, with dynamic offensive playmakers, versatile midfielders, and a strong defensive backbone anchored by an experienced goalie," said McCaffrey.  "Collectively, they bring championship pedigrees, high-level club experience, and a relentless competitive spirit that will make an immediate impact on both ends of the field."Â
USA Lacrosse All-Americans Sophia Im and Mia Milkowski will join the GW Revs this fall after collecting numerous accolades across their high school and club careers.
Mia Milkowski – Attack- Rumson, N.J. | International Affairs
Milkowski arrives at GW out of Rumson, N.J., competing for Steps NJ Lacrosse Club. She was named to the All-American list in addition to being slotted to Second Team All-State and First Team All-Shore. Outside of lacrosse, Milkowski participated in numerous honors societies and received the Theodore G Sourlis "Purple and White Heart" Memorial Award, the 2025 Student Excellence Award in French and the Wake Forest Book Award for character, service and leadership.Â
"Mia is an outstanding dodger, who reads defenses well and uses her strength and agility to get down to the cage. She's an aggressive player with a team-first mentality and attitude!"
Sophia Im – Attack/Midfield- Bellvue, Wash. | Undecided
Im joins the Revolutionaries from Bellvue, Wash. as a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American, a two-time participant of Team Washington and as a four-time All-Conference and a two-time All-State honoree. In her senior season, Im was a Washington state champion and earned the championship's MVP. Im competed for Arc Lacrosse Club and earned the opportunity to play in the High School National Championship tournament.Â
"Sophia is a shifty lefty with a strong feeding ability and dangerous lefty dodge. She's a relentless worker who never stops moving, constantly battling to win the next 50/50 or get the ball back."
The remainder of the incoming class will arrive on campus from six different states and have collected a variety of lacrosse and academic honors.
Julia Swanson – Attack – Montville, N.J. | Business
Swanson, a Montville Township High School graduate, is the school's all-time leader in goals (306) and points (487). A nine-time varsity letterwinner across lacrosse, soccer, and basketball, she earned 4× First Team All-League, 2× First Team All-Morris County honors, and was named to 2023 All-America Lacrosse – New Jersey Burn. She played club lacrosse for Building Blocks Lacrosse.Â
"Julia is a shifty attacker who reads space and defenders exceptionally well. She comes into GW with a strong lacrosse IQ and a true attacker's 'get-to-goal' mindset."
Parker Febo – Midfield – Summit, N.J. | Business
Febo starred at Summit High School, helping lead the Hilltoppers to three state championships (2022–2024), a 2022 TOC title and a 2024 County Championship. She also competed with STEPS Elite Club, winning the 2023 National Championship and placing second in 2022.
"Parker is coming off an impressive high school season, with multiple game-winning goals to cap a championship run as Group 3 Champions in NJ. Parker earned All State accolades during her senior year. We're excited for her shiftiness, speed, and down-to-goal dodging ability."
Maeve O'Neil – Attack – Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. | Public Health
From Episcopal School of Jacksonville, O'Neil brings a decorated résumé that includes multiple All-American honors (2023, 2024), three All First Coast Awards, and recognition as Attacker of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. She also competed for Lax Maniax (2025 Black) and represented UA Command South and NB Burn South teams.
"Maeve brings a calm and poised attacking presence to our offensive unit; she has a strong feeding ability whilst holding a commanding presence on the field."

Emma Carmouche – Midfield – Chapel Hill, N.C. | International Business
A four-time NCHSAA 4A State Champion with Cardinal Gibbons High School, Carmouche earned First Team All-State honors in 2025 and First Team All-CAP-6 Conference all four years. She also swam varsity for four seasons and competed with Team 91 Carolina, Carolina Fever, and American Select NC.
 "Emma is an incredible athlete! She joins our midfield adding speed, intensity, grit, and all the hustle plays. Emma is a two-way midfielder with a strong intensity on the field!"

Riley Spalik – Defense – Binghamton, N.Y.  | Biology
Spalik was a four-year First Team All-Division defender at Chenango Forks and earned All-American honors while ranking among the Top 15 elite in Section 4. She competed for Salt City Snipers club.
 "Riley is a strong and powerful 1v1 defender. Her work ethic and the intensity she competes with set her apart from others!"
Daisen Iwan – Midfield – Rumson, N.J.  | Finance
Iwan was a four-year varsity player at Rumson Fair Haven High School, earning First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Division honors in both her junior and senior seasons as well as Asbury Park Press First Team recognition. She competed for All Lax Select.
 "Daisen is a two-way midfielder and a natural leader who competes with joy and intensity. She's a talented dodger and shifty between the 30s."

Natalie Varona – Midfield – Branchburg, N.J. | Public Health
Varona was a multi-sport varsity athlete at Somerville High School, competing in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and unified bowling. She earned First Team All-Conference honors in lacrosse as both a junior and senior, along with multiple "Top Player in New Jersey" recognitions. She competed for Ultimate NJ/Elite and DEWLAX Black club teams.
 "Natalie is a force on the field. She is dominant on the draw control, a strong and confident 1v1 defender, and brings a huge presence in the midfield wherever she's involved in the play."
Maggie Pond – Midfield – Newton, Mass. | Undecided
Pond played at Buckingham Browne and Nichols (BB&N), earning All-ISL honors in 2024 and 2025, All-NEPSAC honors in 2024 and 2025, and was part of the New England All-American Team (2023). She also represented MA/RI Team 3 at the National Tournament and competed for Revolution Lacrosse Club.
"Maggie is a strong and shifty lefty midfielder. She's a hustle-play type of student-athlete, constantly doing all the little things — on the draw circle or between the 30s!"
Blythe Gemmill – Goalie – Baltimore, Md.  | Criminal Justice
Gemmill, from Roland Park Country School, earned the Merritt Athletic Award and the Glow Leadership Award. She competed for Skywalkers Lacrosse Club.
"Blythe has a confident yet calm presence in the cage, with quick hands and strong communication to her defense. We are excited for Blythe to join us in net this year!"
This deep and talented incoming class brings championship experience, leadership, versatility, and a competitive edge as they join the Buff & Blue this fall.
