It was announced today by the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic that George Washington will meet the defending national champion Florida Gators on Saturday, December 13th at Amerant Bank Arena in Broward County Florida for the 31st annual edition of the event. This year's exciting doubleheader features GW, Florida, Florida State and former A-10 Conference foe UMass in a pair of games.
The AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic offers fans and families an unforgettable experience during the holiday season, with GW set to play the NCAA defending national champion for the first time since 2006, when George Washington matched up against defending champion Duke in the NCAA Tournament. For GW and Florida, the game marks the first meeting between the teams since George Washington defeated the Gators at home in the Quarterfinals of the 2016 NIT.
During the 50th anniversary season of the home venue for GW basketball- the Charles E. Smith Center - the Revolutionaries have put together a challenging non-conference slate, which begins with an exhibition against Georgetown on October 18th at home. Capped by the bout with the Gators, anticipation is high in 2025-26. Florida also returns a strong core from last season alongside a group of highly touted newcomers, with projections to be a Top 5 team in the country once again this upcoming season.
