WASHINGTON - In the return games of two home-and-home series that sent George Washington to American and Old Dominion last season, the Eagles and Monarchs will visit Foggy Bottom in 2025-26 in the 50th anniversary season of the Charles E. Smith Center.
Last season at Bender Arena in the Tenleytown neighborhood of Northwest DC, GW dropped a heartbreaker in overtime, after American rallied and buried a game-tying three-pointer just before the second half buzzer to send the game to the extra session. The Eagles rode that momentum all the way to an appearance in the 2025 NCAA Tournament as champions of the Patriot League. GW's chance for payback comes at home on November 12, 2025.
Three days later George Washington will welcome in Old Dominion, which it downed on the road last season. In the team's first true road win of the 2024-25 campaign, GW toppled the Monarchs in Norfolk, Va. on December 7th, in a contest that saw the Revolutionaries wrest control with eight minutes remaining via a 12-1 burst en route to the 78-70 win. Then-freshman guard Christian Jones scored a game-high and previous career-high 17 points in 27 minutes off the bench, before he later moved into a starting role and went on to earn A-10 All-Rookie accolades.
GW also announced today the date of the return game to Army West Point after the Black Knights came to Washington last season. In a 75-60 win for the Buff & Blue, GW got a team-high 19 points from returning guard Trey Moss. This season DC's team will visit West Point, New York on Tuesday, December 2nd.
