Tennis Stumbles at Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. – The George Washington tennis team fell in its final nonconference match of the season, 4-3, at Longwood on Saturday afternoon. The Buff & Blue fall to 6-9 on the year with two matches left in the regular season.
GW started the match on a strong note, securing the doubles point with wins in the first and second flight. The duo of Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka recorded a 6-3 win in the first flight, while Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene tallied a 7-6 (7-4) win in the second flight. Lee and Sasinka move to 8-7 as a duo this season, while Ramirez and Skeene improve to 8-4.
In singles action, Sasinka was dominant in the first flight, capturing a 6-2, 6-2 win. Sasinka now has three singles wins this season, all coming in the one-spot. Skeene grinded out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win in the third flight, GW's final point of the day. Skeene is now 9-4 in singles this season and 1-0 as the team's third singles player.
Longwood captured wins in flights two, three, five and six to secure the win, moving the Lancers to 7-10 this season.
GW returns to action next Friday, hosting Davidson for the final home match of the 2025 season. Senior Day festivities will take place prior to the start of the match, with a start time still TBA at the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center.
