Tennis Captures A-10 Win over Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Washington tennis team captured its second A-10 win of the season, topping Saint Joseph's, 5-2, on Friday morning. GW improves to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in conference action.
GW started the match strong, securing the doubles points for the Buff & Blue. Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka won the second flight, 6-3, while Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene notched a 7-5 victory in third doubles.
In singles play, GW secured four matches to secure the victory. Lee was dominant in the third flight, winning 6-1, 6-2. Karen Verduzco picked up her seventh singles win of the season, defeating Saint Joseph's in the fourth flight, 6-4, 6-3. The fifth and sixth flights were dominated by Skeene and Ramirez, who both moved to 7-2 on the season. Skeene won, 6-1, 6-1, while Ramirez picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
GW heads west for spring break next week, battling Augustana (Monday) and Cal State Fullerton (Wednesday) in San Diego. Start times for both matches are still TBA.
