
Tennis Drops A-10 Match to Fordham

WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team dropped its first A-10 match of the year to Fordham, falling to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Fordham started the day with a decisive win in doubles, registering a 6-1 victory in the first flight and a 6-3 victory in flight two. For the second day in a row, Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene had their doubles match go unfinished. They were trailing, 5-4, at the time the match stopped.
The Rams continued their dominant play in singles, winning flights one, three and four to secure the match. Despite going unfinished, Vaida Matuseviciute and Skeene both held advantages in their matches, with Matuseviciute leading 1-0 and Skeene on the cusp of securing the match at 6-4, 5-2.
GW returns to action next Saturday, heading north to Philly to battle Saint Joseph's. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
