Tennis Slips in Home Match vs. UMass

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's tennis team fell in Atlantic 10 action Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon, 4-1. The Buff & Blue dropped to 6-6 this season and 2-2 in the Atlantic 10.
GW got the match started on a strong note, claiming the doubles point with wins in the second and third flights. Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka earned a 6-4 win in second doubles, while Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene rolled to a 6-1 victory in the third flight. First singles went unfinished with Vaida Matuseviciute and Karen Verduzco trailing 5-4 at the time of the stoppage.
Singles play was all UMass as the Minutewomen claimed flights one, three, four and five to secure victory. Matuseviciute had pushed her singles match to a third set, but that match ultimately went unfinished as well.
The Buff & Blue return to SETLC on Saturday, hosting Rhode Island at 12:45 p.m. Results will be available on GWsports.com after completion of the match.
