Corpuz blasts two home runs, Greene gets her first win in the circle
BALTIMORE - The George Washington University softball team won its fourth game in a row on Wednesday, crushing Morgan State in Baltimore by a final of 18-2. The Revolutionaries improved to 13-8 entering the start of A-10 play this weekend against St. Bonaventure.Â
GW's offense was clicking all game, as 11 different players collected RBI. Ashley Corpuz had a career day, going 4-4 with two home runs, a double and four RBI. It's Corpuz's second career two home run game, and the first four-hit game by a Revolutionary in 2025.
Allison Heffley finished with a team-high five RBI, which included her first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the third inning. Despite proving to have a potent attack, the Revolutionaries had gone the first 20 games of the season without a triple, a streak broken today by rookie Emi Todoroki.
Junior pitcher Chloe Greene made her first start of the season for the Buff & Blue, earning her first win since transferring from Radford. The starter went 4.0 innings with four strikeouts before yielding to Emma Fales in her second appearance of 2025 to handle the fifth inning.
GW scored in every inning, but did the most damage with eight runs in the second. The performance was the most runs GW had scored in a game since beating St. Bonaventure by an identical score on March 25, 2022. The Revolutionaries tied their season-high with 18 hits, just two shy of the Buff & Blue record.
Next for GW is the start of A-10 play, a three-game series against St. Bonaventure at the GW Softball Field. The schedule for this weekend has changed, as the teams will now meet on Friday (1:00 p.m. DH) & Saturday (12:00 p.m.) due to forecasted rain on Sunday. Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+.
