Revolutionaries ready to face top-five opponent in Texas A&M
WASHINGTON - The George Washington University softball team is gearing up for its biggest test of the season this weekend when it travels to College Station, Texas, for four games at the Texas A&M Invitational.Â
GW is preparing to face its highest-ranked opponent in the Chrissy Schoonmaker era on Friday night (8:00 p.m. ET) in No. 5 Texas A&M. The Revolutionaries will also test themselves on Friday afternoon against Idaho State (3:00 p.m. ET), and on Saturday against Princeton (12:30 p.m. ET) and Texas State (3:00 p.m. ET).
GW vs. No. 5 Texas A&M will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.Â
With a 7-3 record to begin the year, the Buff & Blue are out to their best start through 10 games since 2019, when GW finished 44-18 overall. After playing their next four games in Texas, the Revolutionaries will look to bolster a successful non-conference schedule with six-straight games at the GW Softball Field. Â
GW ranks highly in the A-10 and in the NCAA in multiple offensive categories to begin the year. Through all Tuesday games, the Revolutionaries rank first in the A-10 in batting average (.339), doubles per game (1.90), total hits (142), on-base percentage (.452), RBI per game (5.80), scoring per game (6.50) and total runs (65). Of those stats, GW ranks in the top 50 in the country in on-base percentage (15th), doubles per game (18th), batting average (32nd), scoring per game (45th) and RBI per game (47th).
The Revolutionaries' 16 runs in their 20-16 loss against Towson last weekend were the most scored by GW since the 2024 finale, when GW plated 17 against St. Bonaventure.
