WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team aims to open the 2025 season 5-2 on Saturday, traveling to Delaware for a noon match against the Blue Hens. The contest will be held at the Wilmington Country Club.
The Buff & Blue return to action after a 7-0 setback against William & Mary last Saturday. The contest was just the second loss for GW this season and the first time the Revolutionaries have been shut out all year.
Entering the new week, Alejandra Ramirez and Karen Verduzco have been GW's most consistent threats in singles play. Both players are 5-1 on the season, with their lone defeats coming against the Tribe. Solange Skeene is just behind at 4-1 after having one of her previous matches this year go unfinished.
In doubles, the pairs of Madison Lee/Victoria Sasinka and Ramirez/Skeene are both 4-2 to lead the GW Revs. Ramirez and Skeene have won two straight doubles matches after going unfinished in their contest against William & Mary.
Delaware welcomes GW with a 3-3 overall record, which includes victories over Navy, Bucknell and Villanova. The Blue Hens have lost to Penn, Rutgers and Virginia Tech this season. Prior to hosting GW, Delaware will first battle Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday.
