WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball has unveiled its 2024-25 non-conference schedule featuring eight home games in addition to a previously announced trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam in November.
The 50th season of basketball at the Charles E. Smith Center tips off on Monday, November 4 when the Buff & Blue welcome in Mercyhurst, a new member of Division I that competes in the Northeast Conference. The clash with the Lakers begins a season-opening, four-game homestand for GW with matchups against Hampton (Friday, Nov. 8), North Carolina A&T (Tuesday, Nov. 12) and NJIT (Monday, Nov. 18).
Hampton is the lone program of the four that GW has previously faced. The Revolutionaries and Pirates, now a member of the CAA, have squared off four times with the most recent matchup in 2020.
The Revolutionaries will then travel to St. Thomas for the 2024 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam from November 22-25. GW will open the three-game tournament with Big 12 foe Kansas State on Friday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m.
GW will play host to old Southern Conference rival VMI on Black Friday, Nov. 29, in the first battle between the programs in nearly a decade. The Revolutionaries own a decisive 44-16 advantage in the all-time series with the Keydets and have won eight-straight contests.
December brings a pair of road matchups for Coach Chris Caputo's team, starting with a crosstown matchup at American on Wednesday, Dec. 4. GW will be visiting Bender Arena for the first time since 2003 to kick off a home-and-home series and will be seeking its first victory over the Eagles since 2018.
Old Dominion returns to the schedule for the first time since 2003 as the GW Revs will travel to Norfolk, Va. on Saturday, Dec. 7 to take on the Monarchs in the opening leg of another home-and-home set.
The final three non-conference matchups will be played at Smith Center, highlighted by a visit from Army West Point on Friday, Dec. 13 in advance of the annual Army/Navy football game to be played in Landover, Md., the next day. The Black Knights will be visiting D.C. for the first time since 2015.
The schedule rounds out with home clashes against Lafayette (Wednesday, Dec. 18) and Division II UVA Wise (Sunday, Dec. 22) in advance of Atlantic 10 play, which is scheduled to begin on New Year's Eve.
Game times and TV designations will be announced at a later date. The full Atlantic 10 conference schedule is anticipated to be released later this month.
Season ticket deposits are currently being accepted for all new ticket holders. For more information, visit gwsports.com/tickets or call the GW Ticket Office at 202-99-GWTIX (994-9849).
