WASHINGTON – Following a solid start to the fall season, the George Washington tennis team is set to compete in the Blue & Gold Invitational hosted by Navy this weekend. The three-day event is scheduled to begin at noon on Friday and extend until Sunday afternoon.
GDUB will see its full roster competing this weekend, headlined by Karen Verduzco and Patricia Ungure-Rogozoveca taking part in Flight A singles. Vaida Matuseviciute and Victoria Sasinka will rep the Buff & Blue in Flight B singles, while Madison Lee and Solange Skeene participate in Flight C. Alejandra Ramirez will be GW's lone participant in Flight D during singles action.
On the doubles front, GW will have four different teams in action. The pairs of Verduzco/Matuseviciute and Ungure-Rogozoveca/Ramirez will both battle in Flight A doubles. Through the draw process, Verduzco/Matuseviciute were granted a first-round bye, automatically advancing the team to quarterfinal play. In Flight B, Sasinka/Skeene looks to navigate the field, while Lee will team up with Navy's Manci Pal in Flight C.
GW returns to the court after opening the fall campaign at the Bedford Cup earlier this month. While in College Park, the Revolutionaries saw Matuseviciute, Sasinka and Skeene each claim third in their respective singles brackets. In doubles play, Sasinka/Ramirez also claimed third, starting their season off on a strong note.
Start time for the Blue & Gold Invitational is set for noon on Friday at Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium in Annapolis, Md. Action on Saturday and Sunday is set to commence at 9:00 a.m. Follow GWsports.com for the latest info on Revolutionaries tennis.
GW fans can get in the game by supporting NIL opportunities for Buff & Blue student-athletes through contributions to the Friends of George Collective. Fans can also directly support through donations to the Buff & Blue Fund.
