Volleyball Prepares to Travel to Pittsburgh to Open Conference Play

WASHINGTON - After finishing 10-3 in its non-conference slate, the GW volleyball team is set to travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to open Atlantic 10 play against Duquesne on Friday, September 27th at 6 p.m. The two teams will then face off again on Saturday, September 28th at 2 p.m. to conclude the series. Both matches will be aired on ESPN+.Â

NON-CONFERENCE REWIND
The Revolutionaries enter Atlantic 10 action following its best non-conference start since 2015, claiming the second-best non-conference record in the A-10. The Buff & Blue ended non-conference play with a sweep at the Delaware State Tournament, claiming victory over NJIT, host Delaware State and Harvard last weekend.Â

Following its non-conference contests, GW currently leads the A-10 in service aces and sits second in digs, third in kills and third in both hitting percentage and points.Â

ABOUT THE DUKES
The Duquesne Dukes enter the A-10 opener at 9-3. To end non-conference action, the Dukes fell to Western Michigan, 1-3, and defeated Canisius in a sweep to finish out the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. In the A-10, the Dukes sit third in non-conference record and lead the conference in blocks, while sitting in second in points, hitting percentage and service aces.Â

GW leads the series all-time, 41-21, and will look to build on last year's meetings when each team claimed one match apiece. Leading the Dukes this year is Emersen Schrom, who leads the team in both kills (138) and service aces (22), while sitting second on the roster in blocks (27). Also headlining the Dukes' roster is Elizabeth Drelling, who wore the Buff & Blue for four seasons before transferring to Duquesne as a graduate student. In 2024, Drelling has tallied 130 kills and will pose a challenge across the net for GW this weekend. The full breakdown of Duquene's 2024 statistics can be found here.
