WASHINGTON -Â GW men's basketball head coach Chris Caputo has reloaded the program's roster ahead of his third season at the helm of the Buff & Blue. GW will be adding transfers Rafael Castro (Providence), Gerald Drumgoole Jr. (Delaware), Sean Hansen (Cornell) and Trey Moss (William & Mary).
Castro and Moss have two years of eligibility remaining while Drumgoole and Hansen will be using their final year of eligibility in 2024-25.
The four veteran student-athletes have a combined 13 years of college basketball experience, augmenting the youthful core of seven returning scholarship players that the Foggy Bottom faithful were introduced to last year.
"We feel like the additions of Rafael, Gerald, Sean and Trey really compliment our strong young core," Caputo said. "Adding experience to one of the nation's most productive freshmen classes gives us the depth and versatility we need to compete in the Atlantic 10. Most importantly, we wanted men of great character and passion for the game as we continue to elevate the program."

Coach Caputo on Rafael: "Rafael competed in the Big East and was productive on a per minute basis. Rafael is a lob threat who also will impact the game defensively and on both backboards."
Castro appeared in 60 games the last two seasons for the Friars, primarily in a reserve role while averaging 8.1 minutes per game. When he was on the court though, he was rather effective, averaging 2.5 ppg and 2.3 rpg while shooting 61.5% from the floor.
This past season, Castro had the best offensive rebounding rate of any player on Providence at 11.4% and his offensive rating of 110.5 was fourth-best on the team as he will look to solidify the interior for the Revolutionaries this coming campaign.
Castro attended Dover High School in New Jersey, where he was ranked as the #30 power forward nationally and third-best player in the state as a senior. He also played for the Dominican Republic at the 2019 CentroBasket U17 Championship.

Coach Caputo on Gerald: "Gerald comes with great experience and positional size. Over time he has proven not only to be a capable scorer, but a consistent 3-point shooter. What is special is his ability to also create for others as he averaged 2.5 assists in each of the last two seasons."
Drumgoole will finish his college career with a sixth year of action following two seasons at Pittsburgh (both affected by COVID), two at Albany (one shortened to just one game due to injury) and one year at Delaware. Drumgoole started 19 games for the Blue Hens a year ago, and was second on the team in scoring at 13.9 ppg. He also provided 3.8 rpg and 2.4 apg on 43.3% shooting overall and 37.3% shooting from beyond the arc.
Drumgoole has shot 34.2% from beyond the arc during his career, making 74 and 75 3-pointers the last two seasons for Albany and Delaware, respectively. GW got a first-hand look at Drumgoole last season in the Bahamas, when he came off the bench to score 12 points with two rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes of GW's 81-71 win in November.

Hansen averaged 8.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 2.0 apg while shooting 54% overall and 37% from 3-point range while becoming the only Big Red player to start all 30 contests a year ago. Coach Caputo on Trey: "Trey really had a breakout season at William and Mary. Trey is an elite athlete who not only scores but affects the game in several areas. Trey can be an excellent defender and stat stuffer from the guard position."
Moss will look to have the same effect at GW as he had during his lone year at William & Mary a year ago, when he ranked second on the team in scoring with 13.5 ppg, posting double digits in 26 of 33 games and recording a team-high six 20-point efforts. Moss led the team in made field goals and ranked second in assists (71) and steals (24).
Moss scored 11 points in GW's 95-89 victory over William & Mary last year to go along with five assists and four rebounds. He ended up being named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll following the campaign.
