WASHINGTON -Â GW lacrosse's Emma Nowakowski has been named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week following her program record on Saturday vs. VCU.
Nowakowski scored eight goals against the Rams, including the game-winner in the 15-14 overtime triumph. The graduate student scored twice in the first half before potting six of GW's seven goals after intermission, staving off multiple VCU rallies before finishing things off 49 seconds into the extra session.
Nowakowski's eight goals are the most by an Atlantic 10 player this season and tied for the fourth-most in the country this year. Coupled with her two assists, she provided 10 points on the day, matching the most by anyone in the conference this season and ranking t-10 nationally.
The High Point transfer is now second in the A-10, and 29th nationally, with 42 goals on the season while ranking sixth in points, and 76th nationally, with 48. Her offensive outburst moved her up to eighth all-time at GW in single-season goals, just 12 shy of tying that program record with three games remaining in the regular season.
The Buff & Blue are back in action this Saturday at Richmond for a 1 p.m. opening draw.Â
