BRONX, N.Y. - The George Washington softball team was defeated on Sunday at Fordham, 11-2. GW falls to 18-18 overall and 5-7 in the A-10.
Fordham got to GW early in the finale. The Rams scored six runs in the first inning by way of four hits and two fielding errors to give their starter Devon Miller a comfortable lead to pitch behind. Miller pitched all five innings, giving up her only runs in the third on a Rose Cano two-RBI double. Cano made the start in the circle for GW but was replaced by Sophia Torreso in the second inning.
The Rams added three more runs in the second to make it 9-0 before Cano's double brought GW back within seven, but Fordham scored two more times in the fourth to go up 11-2, which was enough to enact the run rule after GW did not score in the fifth.Â
GW had six hits, each by a different player, and two RBI, both from Cano. Maggie Greco and Allison Heffley scored GW's runs, each on 1-for-3 days.
The Revolutionaries are back to the GW Softball Field for a midweek matchup vs. Coppin State. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be carried on ESPN+.Â
