Track Readies for Dalton Ebanks Invitational

WASHINGTON – Following another record-breaking showing last weekend at the Raleigh Relays, the George Washington men's and women's track team makes the short trip to George Mason to take part in the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. The two-day event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and will pick back up again on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
Last weekend at the Raleigh Relays, the GW men competed in the 1500m and the 5K with two runners in each race. Michael Bohlke notched a time of 3:50.28, three seconds off his career-best time of 3:47.31. Bohlke finished 90th out of the 227-runner field. Patrick Castellano also competed in the 1500m for GW, recording a mark of 3:52.68 to finish 126th. In the 5K, Ryan Fowkes put together an incredible showing, clocking a 13:49.83, shattering the previous program-record of 14:14.41 set by Thomas Sand at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational during the 2022-23 season. Fowkes finished the event in 24th, a stellar performance out of the 222-runner field. GW teammate Jacob Heredia also competed in the event, recording a PR of 14:26.25 to finish 128th.
The GW women also had a solid showing at the event which featured two runners in the 5K. Sarah Mitchell led the way, recording a 49th-place finish with a PR time of 17:00.62. The new mark beats her old personal record of 17:25.76 by a wide margin of over 25 seconds. Una Boylan also competed in the 5K for the Buff & Blue, notching a 17:41.36 in her event debut. Boylan finished 112th in the race.
The Revolutionaries will compete in 13 events at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational this weekend, sending 27 student-athletes to the meet. GW's first event of the weekend will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Friday when Kamryn Holness takes part in the women's 400-meter hurdles. The day wraps-up at 8:50 p.m. when five GW runners compete in the men's 5,000-meter run. On Saturday, the team's first event will take place at 1:30 p.m. with three Buff & Blue racers competing in the women's 400-meter dash. GW's meet concludes at 7:55 p.m. that night when Lucas Brown races in the men's 10,000-meter run.
