PHILADELPHIA – The George Washington tennis team defeated Rhode Island on Saturday morning in Philadelphia, 4-1. The win is GW's second straight and their fourth in A-10 play this season.
GW earned No. 2 and No. 3 doubles wins to take an early advantage in the match. Victoria Sasinka and Alejandra Ramirez captured a 6-3 win in No. 2 doubles, while Lindsay Thompson and Charlotte Bell earned a dominant 6-2 victory.
In No. 1 singles, Wiesemann picked up a 2-0 (7-5, 7-6 (2)) victory to help lengthen the Buff & Blue advantage. Giraldo also earned a 2-0 (6-3, 7-5) victory in No. 2 singles, while Ramirez sealed the win with a 2-0 (6-2, 6-2) in No. 4 singles.
The Buff & Blue conclude the 2024 regular season tomorrow with a match against Richmond. Start time is slated for 2:30 p.m. in Philadelphia.
