Tennis Sweeps Saint Joseph’s, Opens Weekend with Win

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Washington tennis team opened a three-match weekend with a 4-0 victory over Saint Joseph's on Friday afternoon. The Buff & Blue were fueled by No. 1 and No. 2 doubles wins to secure the sweep. The win is GW's fifth of the season and the third in A-10 play.
Stella Wiesemann and Gabriela Giraldo got things started for GW, capturing a 6-3 win in No. 1 doubles to put the Revolutionaries ahead early. Following the opening doubles win, Victoria Sasinka and Alejandra Ramirez posted an identical 6-3 win in No. 2 doubles to stretch the advantage.
In singles action, Wiesemann picked up right where she left off, securing a dominant 2-0 (7-6, 6-0) victory to in No. 1 singles. She was followed by a 2-0 (6-3, 7-6) win in No. 2 singles from Giraldo and a 2-0 (6-3, 6-0) win in No. 3 singles from Sasinka to complete the sweep.
