Swimming and Diving Breaks Five A-10 Records, Widens Leads at A-10 Championships

GW breaks five A-10 records and eight program records on day three
HAMPTON, Va. - The George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped Friday night in style, as both teams set new A-10 records in the 400-yard medley relay to close the night. GW has opened substantial leads on both sides as it heads into the final day of competition on Saturday. Saturday's prelims begin at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m., all of which will be carried live on ESPN+.
HIGHLIGHTS
MEN'S

The men's 400-yard medley relay closed the meet with an A-10 and program record performance (3:05.78). The relay, swam by Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan, Ralf Roose, Djurdje Matic and Toni Dragoja took home gold and beat the previous record by well over three seconds and is an NCAA B-cut time.

In the 100-yard butterfly finals, Matic set a new A-10 record and program record (45.15) on his way to winning the gold medal. Daniel Nagy finished in third place (46.71), and both had NCAA B-cut times.

Dragoja (1:33.25) beat his own A-10 and program record, which he set on Wednesday as the lead-off in the 800-yard freestyle relay, in the 200-yard freestyle finals and won gold.

Connor Rodgers (3:46.88) and Misha Lyubavkisy (3:47.02) finished in first and second place in the 400-yard IM, respectively. Both achieved NCAA B-cut times.

Sivaramakrishnan and Karol Mlynarczyk finished in first and second in the 100-yard backstroke, respectively. Sivaramakrishnan paced the field with a 46.91, while Mlynaczyk finished in 47.84.

First-year Roose collected his first individual medal at the A-10 Championships with his second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (53.06).

Ben Bradley submitted a new career-high score in the 3-meter dive and collected the silver medal for his performance (323.30).
WOMEN'S

The women's 400-yard medley relay finished the meet with an A-10 and program record swim (3:35.19). Barbara Schaal, Ava DeAngelis, Moriah Freitas and Marlee Rickert are the new record holders and A-10 Champions in the event.

Ava DeAngelis went sub-1:00 in the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking the A-10 and program record and winning the gold medal (59.75).

Phoebe Wright won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.18. Olivia Tighe finished the race in second with a time of 1:47.99.

Freitas broke the program record twice today in the 100-yard butterfly. Freitas broke the record in prelims before breaking it again in the finals with a time of 53.42. Freitas finished the race in second.

Zoe Schneider (4:17.94) and Molly Smyers (4:16.09) took second and third place in the 400-yard IM, respectively.

Schaal (53.62) and Rickert (53.65) each landed spots on the podium in the 100-yard backstroke, Schaal earning silver and Rickert earning bronze.
