ROTENBURG, Germany – GW women's basketball alumna Maren Durant (G'24) has landed a pro contract with the Avides Hurricanes out of the German 2 League, the team announced earlier this week. Durant, a graduate transfer who arrived in Foggy Bottom prior to the 2023-24 season, played one season with the Revolutionaries.
Following a successful four-year career at Boston University that saw her tie the program record for career field goal percentage (56.1%), finish second all-time in blocks (172) and fourth in rebounds (832), Durant played in 27 games for the Buff & Blue as a graduate student.
During her 27 contests, Durant earned 16 starts, averaging 16.5 minutes per game and shooting a team-best 48.6% from the floor. She recorded 3.4 points a game and got into double-figure rebounding numbers on two separate occasions. She also finished the year with 22 assists and 13 blocks as well. Coupled with her numbers put up with BU, Durant finished her collegiate career with 948 rebounds and 869 points.
Durant will join the Hurricanes following the turn of the new year in the middle of the team's 2024-25 season. The team has 10 games remaining with the next played on Dec. 21 against Bielefeld.
