Revolutionaries travel to site of 2024-25 A-10 Championships for early-season competition
WASHINGTON - The George Washington University swimming & diving teams are set for their second meet day of the 2024-25 season, competing in a quad meet at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va., against a trio of Coastal Athletic Association members: UNCW, Delaware and William & Mary. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m., and live results will be available on meet mobile.
HEADING BACK TO HAMPTON
The swimming & diving teams will return to the Hampton Aquaplex, the site of last season's A-10 Championships, having already left their mark on the facility when they captured the 2023-24 conference championships. The Revolutionaries will have the opportunity to refamiliarize themselves with the setting before the conference returns to the Hampton Aquaplex in February for the 2024-25 A-10 Championships.
PRESEASON NO. 1
Both the men's and women's teams were picked to repeat as champions in the 2024-25 A-10 preseason poll. This came as the men's team took all eight first-place votes from around the conference and the women's team secured 10 of the 11 first-place votes from its peers.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
UNCW will swim in its first meet of the season on Saturday after its originally scheduled season-opening meet vs. Duke was canceled due to weather. The Seahawks are coming off a successful 2023-24 season, where both its men's and women's teams were crowned champions of the CAA. The Seahawks men have now won three straight CAA Championships, while their women have won the last two.
Delaware will also swim in its first meet of the season on Saturday. The Blue Hens men's and women's teams were competitive last season, both finishing the conference meet in second place behind UNCW.
William & Mary gets its season underway on Saturday, swimming against familiar foes from the CAA alongside GW. The Tribe's women finished in third place at last season's CAA Championships, while their men finished in fifth place. William & Mary is the only team competing this weekend that does not have diving.
UNCW, Delaware and William & Mary are each also making a return trip to the Hampton Aquaplex, which hosted the CAA Championships last season in the week following the A-10 Championships.
