Cross Country Completes Pirate Invite, Heredia Sets Program Record

Greenville, N.C.- On Friday morning, the GW men's and women's cross country teams raced to another strong finish at the Pirate Invite hosted by ECU. On the men's side, the Revolutionaries raced to a fifth-place finish, finishing ahead of A-10 foes Davidson, Richmond and VCU. On the women's side, GW finished eighth, outlasting A-10 competitors Richmond and VCU as well as fellow DMV competitor American.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Racing in the 8k, Jacob Heredia headlined the event for the men, setting a new program record time of 23:56. Charles Mbuthia followed closely behind for the men, earning a 24:34.8 time in the 8k. Following Mbuthia was Austin Brotemarkle (24:35.6). The rest of the GW men finished as follows: Michael Bohlke (24:48.3), Jimmy Gildea (24:59.7), Pierce Kapustka (25:23.6), Colin Funk (25:31.5), Wesley Kaukas-Quinn (26:27.8) and Cory Chambers (26:57.4).
In the women's 6k, Una Boylan finished at the top for GW with a 22:26.9 time. Behind Boylan were Amelia Ogawa (22:51.9), Julia Shanes (22:55.7), Sarah Mitchell (23:09.6), Hadley Mahoney (23:10.2), Megan Churchill (23:29.4), Deirdre Kenny (23:31.1), Claire Bohan (23:36.4), Lola Dinneen (23:38.0) and Ashley Robinson (24:27).

The GW Revs will now prepare for the Panorama Farms Invite. The race is hosted by UVA and will take place on October 19 in Charlottesville, Va.
