Tennis Looks to Shine at ITA Regional Championships

WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team looks ahead to the ITA Regional Championships hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., this weekend. The five-day event is scheduled to start on Thursday and will conclude with championship matches taking place the following Tuesday. Live video of the six main courts can be found on GWsports.com.
In singles action, Patricia Ungure-Rogozoveca was the lone Revolutionary to automatically qualify for the main draw, which begins on Friday. The remaining six student-athletes for GW will all take part in the qualifying draw, which will be held on Thursday starting at 9:00 a.m. Official match times and singles draws have not yet been announced. In doubles play, GW registered three teams to take part in the action. With no doubles qualifying session, all three teams will automatically compete in the main draw. GW's teams will consist of Vaida Matuseviciute and Karen Verduzco, Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka, as well as Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene. Doubles action will also begin on Friday, with draw info and start times still TBA.
