Buchanan Tabbed as A-10 Rookie of the Week for a Third Time

WASHINGTONÂ - GW men's basketball's ownership of the A-10 Rookie of the Week award continued on Monday when Darren Buchahan Jr. earned the accolade for the third time this season.
Buchanan averaged 18.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg in GW's games against George Mason and Massachusetts, shooting 65.2% (15-of-23) from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. He also authored 3.0 assists per game and added a block and an assist.
The D.C., native led the GW charge in Monday's Revolutionary Rivalry victory with a team-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. He also added nine rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes of action. He followed up on Saturday with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds and three more assists.
Overall for the year, Buchanan is second on the team in both scoring and rebounding at 15.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg. He leads A-10 qualifiers in field goal percentage at 57.8% and ranks among the nation's top 10 rookies in rebounding (6th) and scoring (8th).
