Gymnastics Finishes Second at Lindsey Ferris Invitational

Burke, Tyeryar and Zois set career highs in first home meet
WASHINGTON – GW gymnastics scored a 195.025 at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Saturday as part of a close second-place finish behind Penn, who scored a 195.375. Temple placed third with a score of 194.100, followed by Yale with a score of 193.325 and Cornell with a score of 192.850.
GW scored a 48.775 on vault, a 47.975 on bars, 49.025 on beam and a 49.250 on floor.
Sarah Zois came in first out of all performers with a 9.850 on vault. Newcomer Sophia Tyeryar took first place on bars with a score of 9.725. Anneliese Silverman came in first on beam with a score of 9.850. Whitman paced the floor rotation for the second meet in a row with a score of 9.925.
ROTATION TWO (VAULT - 48.775)
GW began their first rotation on vault after a first-round bye. Zois led the vault rotation and Kendall Whitman added a 9.775, and Kasey Burke and Rachel Katz both scored a 9.725. Anneliese Silverman recorded a 9.700 and Marlee York scored a 9.650.
ROTATION THREE (BARS - 47.975)
First-year Sophia Tyeryar set a new career high in her second-ever collegiate meet with a score of 9.725. Silverman added a 9.700 and Delaney DeHaan and Maya Peters both scored a 9.550. Madi McMullen scored a 9.450 and Katz finished the bars rotation with a 9.375.
ROTATION FOUR (BEAM - 49.025)
Following Silverman's 9.850, Kendall Whitman, Maya Peters and Sarah Zois each added a 9.800. Marlee York scored a 9.775, and Deana Sheremeta ended the rotation with a 9.100.
ROTATION FIVE (FLOOR - 49.250)
In the final rotation, Whitman led the floor rotation for the second meet in a row with a 9.925. Sarah Zois scored a career high 9.875. Marlee York and Payton Lynch both scored 9.825s. Deana Sheremeta and Kasey Burke added 9.800s, leading to a new career high on floor for Burke.
