WASHINGTON -Â GW women's rowing head coach Paul Allbright has finalized his inaugural coaching staff with the additions of Margaret Dail and Elena Esteban as assistant coaches and Fatima Mumtaz as Director of Operations. All three coaches come from decorated varsity careers at their respective institutions.Â
"I am incredibly excited to welcome Margaret, Elena, & Fatima to the GW Women's Rowing family," Allbright said. "Each brings her own championship blend of rowing related experience to the team while also sharing in my commitment to supporting our rowers and coxswains as whole people. I look forward to learning from each of them this year as we work together to guide the program to the next level."
Dail joins the Buff & Blue from the University of Texas, where she served as a volunteer coach for the Longhorns, who finished fourth at the national championship. She also assisted at Austin Rowing Club from 2020-23, highlighted by leading a program-best five qualifying boats to the 2022 Youth National Championship.
As a student-athlete, Dail was a four-time Big 12 Champion at Texas and placed in the top-four of the national championships during the 2017, 2018 and 2019 campaigns. She also was a member of SAAC at UT, where she earned her Bachelor's in History in 2019.
Esteban was a coxswain at the University of Central Florida from 2017-2021, winning a pair of American Athletic Conference championships and twice earning Second Team All-AAC honors. In 2019, she coxed the 2V8 to victory as part of UCF's fifth-straight AAC title, and coxed the team to a 19th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
She earned her Bachelor's from UCF in Sports and Exercise Science in 2021 and a Master's in Kinesiology in 2022. Since graduating, Esteban has served as a middle school coach and high school assistant coach at the Crew Boosters of Winter Park.
Mumtaz comes to GW after an undergraduate career at Lehigh University, where she was a coxswain for the Mountain Hawks for four years. She was a four-time member of the Patriot League Honor Roll and earned two Bachelor's degrees - one in Health, Medicine and Society and another in Earth and Environment Science.Â
She is pursuing her Master of Public Health at GW and is also a member of the women's sweep team at the Potomac Boat Club, where she trains as a coxswain for athletes between the ages of 22-30.
