Emma McLaughlin Earns 2023 IWLCA Community Awareness Award

Emma McLaughlin of GW lacrosse has earned the 2023 IWLCA Community Awareness Award, the association announced on Thursday.
The individual Community Awareness Award recognizes one student-athlete per division who has contributed significantly to their community in an academic year, giving time and energy to support and develop service efforts in the collegiate lacrosse community.
McLaughlin undertook several community service efforts during her sophomore season at GW. She volunteered with the Grassroots Health Organization, assisted with teaching nutrition to sixth graders in the spring and administered sex education to seventh graders in the fall. The Millersville, Md., native also volunteers as a coach for WINNERS lacrosse, which provides the youth in D.C. an opportunity to learn the game of lacrosse and essential life skills.
She is also a Fellow Christian Athlete and helped run two camps for athletes with disabilities ages 14-30. McLaughlin was a Morgan's Message Team Ambassador and helped with the team's Raise High Harvest last fall.Â
