SPARKS, Md. – Stella Ray of GW lacrosse has been invited to next month's 2023 U.S. Women's U20 National Team tryout. The tryouts will be held on July 7-9 in preparation for the world championship, which will be held in Hong Kong, China, from August 15-25, 2024.

Ray was one of 99 players invited to the tryout, hailing from 27 colleges and coached by Northwestern's Head Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, who led the Wildcats to the NCAA Division I women's lacrosse championship last month.

Ray, a first-year defender from Charlotte, N.C., capped her first season in Buff & Blue fourth in the NCAA in ground balls per game, totaling 59 in her first season, good enough for first all-time in a single season in GW program history. Ray finished the season fourth in the A-10 in caused turnovers per game with an average of 1.76/game and 30 for the year. Her 58 draw controls in 2023 rank fourth all-time in a single season.
