Softball Heads to Philadelphia for Three-Game Series Against Saint Joseph’s

Colonials begin nine-game road stint on Friday
WASHINGTON - GW softball is back in action this weekend as it heads to Philadelphia to take on the Hawks from Saint Joseph's. The Colonials and Hawks will play three games at the SJU Softball Field, starting with a doubleheader on Friday (12 & 2:30 p.m.) before the series finale on Saturday (12 p.m.). Friday's doubleheader will be streamed on ESPN+.
PATIENT APPROACH
First-year Ashley Corpuz and senior Maggie Greco are in a three-way tie for second place in walks per game in the A-10. The duo averages 0.63 walks per game, tied with Madison Stewart of St. Bonaventure and behind only Chloe Rhine of Saint Louis (0.81 walks per game). Both Corpuz and Greco have a team-high 17 walks this season.
HISTORY AGAINST THE HAWKS
GW trails the all-time series against Saint Joseph's, 21-19, but has won the last seven in a row and 10 of the last 11 meetings. Under Head Coach Chrissy Schoonmaker, the Colonials are 3-0 and have outscored the Hawks 13-1.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's enters this weekend's series at 12-17 overall and 4-4 in the A-10. The Hawks lost their mid-week matchup with Delaware, 12-4, in six innings. In conference, Saint Joseph's began with a 3-0 series sweep over UMass, then lost all three games to Loyola Chicago before splitting games with Rhode Island.
Kaelin Cash has paced the Hawks in most hitting categories, including a .354 average behind 28 hits, 19 RBI and eight home runs. Saint Joseph's has a trio of pitchers who sport ERAs under three. Jules Scogna (2.38), Emily Siler (2.66) and Taylor Trowbridge (2.68) have been Saint Joseph's go-to options on the mound and account for all but three starts this season.
