Women’s Tennis Closes Regular Season with Pair of Matches

GW to host Fordham on Saturday, Saint Joseph’s on Sunday for Senior Day
WASHINGTON – GW women's tennis will conclude its regular season this weekend, hosting Fordham on Saturday for an 11 a.m. start before welcoming Saint Joseph's on Sunday for Senior Day at 1 p.m. Saturday's match will be played at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center and Sunday will be at the Mount Vernon Campus tennis courts.
LAST TIME OUT
GW won in thrilling fashion over Dayton last Saturday, with senior captain Sarah Bodewes clinching the 4-3 victory for the Buff & Blue at the No. 4 singles flight. Stella Wiesemann, Gabriela Giraldo and Charlotte Bell each won their respective singles matches in straight sets, with Bodewes topping her opponent in a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win for GW's fourth A-10 victory of the season.
CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE
Following this weekend's matches, GW looks ahead to the Atlantic 10 Championship at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The first matches of the Championship get started on April 27, with play continuing until Sunday's final match. Final seedings for this year's tournament will be announced following this weekend's competition.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Fordham is 9-7 overall and is coming off a 4-2 Senior Day win over conference foe UMass. The Rams are 4-1 in conference play, with the lone loss coming to defending champions, VCU. Saint Joseph's is 7-9 overall and 0-5 in A-10 play. The Hawks recently topped Morgan State, 4-3, and will visit Richmond and George Mason before matching up with GW on Sunday.
