GW adds defensive standout to 2023-24 roster
Women's Basketball Head Coach Caroline McCombs proudly announced today that Maren Durant will be joining the program for the 2023-24 season.
A graduate transfer from Boston University, Durant brings a trophy case of accolades with her to Foggy Bottom. In 2022-23, she became BU's first-ever women's basketball player to earn conference All-Defensive team honors three times. She graduates tied as her former program's all-time leader in field goal percentage (.561), second all-time in blocks (172) and fourth in rebounds (832), while starting in 86 of her 108 career games.
"We are excited to add Maren to our GW family," said McCombs. "She is a tremendous fit for our program both on and off the court. She will be graduating with a 3.57 GPA and has been a member of the Patriot League All-Academic team, as well as being a member of the prestigious Scarlet Key Honor Society. On the court, Maren brings a dominant inside presence. GW is the perfect place for Maren to finish her excellent college basketball career, and continue the trend of impact graduate transfers excelling in their final year of eligibility at Foggy Bottom."
Durant's commitment comes on the heels of the recent announcement that a quartet of high-impact George Washington seniors are returning for a final year of eligibility at GW, Faith Blethen, Essence Brown, Nya Lok and Mayowa Taiwo.
