Gymnastics Set for Podium Challenge at No. 6 LSU

March outs from Raising Cane’s River Center are set for 7 p.m. EST on Friday.
WASHINGTON – GW gymnastics will visit No. 6 LSU for a Podium Challenge quad meet with No. 7 California and No. 23 Washington at the Raising Cane's River Center in Baton Rouge, La.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
GW hit a new season-high at home last Friday with a 196.550, finishing second overall against Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Fisk and Ursinus. The Buff & Blue scored the team's highest road score of the season at Towson on Sunday with a 196.400, adding season-highs on vault and beam. As a team, GW totaled 14 top-three event finishes across the two meets, including four first-place finishes, highlighted by Rachel Katz's podium finish and career-high 9.900 on vault on Friday.
AMONG THE NATION'S BESTÂ
GW is currently 20th in the country on vault with a 49.115 NQS and a season-high 49.300. The Buff & Blue have posted a 49.000+ on the event in all but two meets this season. Graduate student Deja Chambliss is 22nd overall on the event with a 9.890 NQS, boasting a season-high 9.925 from February 12. Chambliss has been crowned vault champion six times this season and has led GW on the event in all but one meet in 2023. Chambliss leads EAGL on the event.
FUN ON FLOOR
Junior Kendall Whitman is second in EAGL on floor with a 9.905 NQS and a season-high 9.925. Whitman has posted four 9.900s and a 9.925 on the event in GW's five meets dating back to February 12.
THE ROAD AHEADÂ
Following Friday's meet, GW will host Senior Day on March 10 before closing out the regular season at Maryland on Sunday, March 12. The Buff & Blue will head to New Hampshire on March 18 for the 2023 EAGL Championship.Â
