Swimming and Diving Prepares for LCM Dual Meet at Pitt

WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in a long-course setting for the first time this season, traveling to Pittsburgh for this weekend's long-course meters dual meet against Pitt. The meet begins with an exhibition platform event at 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by swimming events at 10 a.m. and diving events at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Saturday's portion of the meet will be streamed on ACCNX, and live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Buff and Blue last competed on Oct. 21 in a dual meet at Navy. GW won 11 events against fast Navy teams, but fell 162.5-137.5 (W) and 154.00-134.00 (M). Djurdje Matic, Olivia Paquette, Ava Topolewski and Phoebe Wright earned big points for the Revolutionaries with two event wins apiece. Toni Dragoja, Moriah Freitas and Connor Rodgers rounded out GW's victories, each with one event win.
KUDLAC TOPS A-10 ROOKIES
First-year swimmer Riley Kudlac was chosen as the A-10 Rookie Performer of the Week following GW's dual meet at Navy, where she competed in four events and finished no lower than third. Kudlac excelled in both short-distance freestyle races, finishing in second place in the 100-yard freestyle (52.09) and in third place in the 50-yard freestyle (24.19) sprint. Kudlac also helped her team to a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.80) and a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.98).
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Both Pittsburgh's men and women are 1-3 in scored meets this season, with a win over Penn State, but losses to Stanford, Cal and Notre Dame. The Buff and Blue competed at Pittsburgh last season, which resulted in a sweep for the Panthers.Â
