Women’s Cross Country Captures Second at A-10 Championships

CEDARVILLE, OH – Behind an all-conference performance from sophomore Sarah Mitchell, the George Washington women's cross country team tallied a second-place finish at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships. GW has now finished in the top four at the A-10 Championships each of the last five years, including a championship in 2021.

NOTEWORTHY

GW finished with a team score of 103 to capture second place in the championship.
Loyola Chicago reclaimed the A-10 crown with a total score of 65.
VCU's Lauren Tunnell claimed the individual championship with a time of 20:50.54 out of 141 runners.
Mitchell paced the Revolutionaries with a time of 21:16.61 to finish in seventh place and capture all-conference honors. This is the second year in a row Mitchell has been named all-conference following a 14^th-place finish last year.
Behind Mitchell was junior Olivia Syftestad, who tallied a time of 21:51.96 for 20^th.
Sophomore Una Boylan recorded a new 6K PR with a time of 21:52.03. Boylan finished 21^st as an individual.
First-year Julia Shanes notched a time of 21:56.64 for 26^th, while first-year Lola Dinneen finished 29^th with a mark of 22:08.09. Both runners finished in the top 30 in their first A-10 Championship.
Senior Catherine Ruffino recorded a time of 22:59.09 for 68^th, while senior Claire McDonnell placed 96^th with a 23:31.45.
Rounding out the GW runners was sophomore Ashley Robinson with a time of 23:45.17 for 104^th.
