Former Mercer University graduate assistant joins McCombs' staff in Foggy Bottom
WASHINGTON - George Washington Women's Basketball head coach Caroline McCombs announced on Wednesday the hiring of Mackenzie Novak as the team's new director of player development.
"We are excited to bring Mackenzie onto our staff. She is the ultimate student of the game, who will bring a fresh perspective to what we are doing on the court," said McCombs. "Her expertise in film breakdown and analytics will really help us continue to move our program forward. I look forward to Mackenzie being involved with all aspects of GW Basketball."
Novak joins George Washington following one season as a graduate assistant for the Mercer University women's basketball team. While with the Bears, Novak helped coordinate the team's recruiting efforts and assisted with the creation of the opponent scouting reports. Additionally, Novak was selected to participate in the 2021 Top Connect Graduate Assistant Leadership Program, hosted by Stanford University.
"George Washington is a special university with a rich tradition. I am grateful for the opportunity to add value to Coach McCombs' program," said Novak. "I am excited to further our player development and help our program compete for championships. I can't wait to get to work!"
A graduate of Bethel University, Novak also has previous coaching experience with the Bethel Men's Basketball team and the Minnesota Crossfire AAU team.
