Buff & Blue posted 3.497 team GPA in 2021-22
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ten GW softball student-athletes have earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2021-22 academic year.
The list honoring individuals for posting cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or better across both semesters last year includes eight repeat honorees in Maddy Dwyer, Hannah Eslick, Maggie Greco, Sierra Lange, Alessandra Ponce, Sidney Torres, Alexa Williams and Daniella Wilson. Gabby Polsky and Abby Schaub were recognized for the first time.
In total, 7,527 student-athletes nationwide across all collegiate divisions were honored by the NFCA for their excellence in the classroom. It's the second consecutive season that the Buff and Blue have landed double-digit honorees on the list.
In addition, GW was lauded for its academic performance as a team thanks to a combined GPA of 3.497.
Following a highlight-filled season on the diamond in which it secured a second straight Atlantic 10 regular season title and third consecutive postseason berth, the program placed 18 student-athletes on the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for posting a 3.0 or better GPA in 2021-22.
A graduate student pursuing a master's in Paralegal Studies, Eslick led the way for the group with a perfect 4.0 GPA for the school year.
Dwyer (3.95 GPA) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team last spring, and the veteran pitcher was joined on the A-10 All-Academic Team by fellow grad students Lange (3.55) and Ponce (3.73).
